The guide

How to plan things to do in Orlando

01Disney and Universal, two each

Four of the seven are theme parks, split between two resorts. EPCOT and Magic Kingdom sit at Walt Disney World in Bay Lake, while Islands of Adventure and Epic Universe belong to Universal Orlando. Magic Kingdom drew about 17.8 million visitors in 2024, more than any other theme park worldwide, and Epic Universe opened only on May 22, 2025.

02Plan around hours, not tickets

Plan on a full day at any of the four theme parks. Gatorland and the Orlando Science Center fill about half a day each, and Lake Eola Park needs an hour or two for its 0.9-mile loop and swan boats. That makes a half-day attraction plus a lake walk a realistic plan for a day away from the parks.

03Awards and reviews can disagree

Epic Universe won the 2026 Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement in a theme park, plus three more Theas for its lands and rides, yet its Google rating stood at 3.9 on about 10,900 reviews in October 2026. EPCOT, Magic Kingdom and Islands of Adventure each held 4.6 or 4.7 on more than 100,000 reviews.

How we picked these seven

For things to do we weigh public reputation, recognition from independent travel guides and how much of Orlando each one shows you, and we keep at least two picks outside the theme parks.

Places are ranked by evidence, not by a single number, and nobody paid to be listed. Figures like drive times and prices change; each one shows where it came from and when. Read the full method.
